Allan Platt's Very Short Autobiography

Like millions of other people I was born in New York City. The Bronx, to be more exact, home of the New York Yankees. My family moved around a few times when I was a youngster, so I also lived in Manhattan, Brooklyn and eventually Queens. I attended Jamaica High School for my freshman year and then went to Martin Van Buren High School in Queens Village. Growing up in New York City was great fun for me, both in the tenements and the suburbs. After high school I went to Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan where I enrolled in pre-engineering courses. I transferred to City University of New York at the start of my sophmore year. I commuted in from Queens to Harlem with a group of friends who also studied engineering or science courses. I switched from an engineering curriculum to mathematics. I dropped out of school for a couple of years and eventually finished my bachelor's degree in math at California State University, Los Angeles.

I lived in NYC for most of my early years and Los Angeles for most of my adult years. But for a period time I also lived in London England. London holds a special place in my life. The weather may not be the best, especially compared to LA, but it is a great place to live, work and have fun. Someday I hope to live there again. In the meantime, I'll have to settle for going back on vacation visits.
